portfolio review | africa foto fair 2024
Abidjan will remain etched in my memory for a long time to come. Participating in Africa Foto Fair (AFF) was much more than just a training program: it was a total immersion in a vibrant ecosystem of creativity, knowledge sharing, and meaningful human encounters, alongside talented individuals from all corners of the world.
Throughout this intense week, punctuated by learning and exchange, we took part in workshops that were as rich as they were complementary. We explored the mastery of light, particularly the subtle balance between natural light and flash, during sessions led by Paolo Verzone. We also worked on building professional portfolios, delved into the art of the photo book with Bengheza Lawalid, and discovered printing techniques on different photographic papers alongside Aida Muluneh and Alun Be. Each workshop opened up new perspectives and nourished our vision.
I would like to express my immense gratitude to Aida Muluneh Studio and the entire Africa Foto Fair organizing team for this essential initiative, which builds bridges between African and international photographers while promoting the sharing of knowledge and experiences. My gratitude also goes to the instructors, whose generosity, rigor, and kindness deeply marked this adventure.
A special shout-out to my new friends from this edition. Through exchanges of ideas, passionate discussions, laughter, and moments of collective inspiration, we created much more than a network: a real community.
This week at the AFF not only enriched my artistic practice; it was also a powerful and unforgettable human experience. I leave feeling inspired, nourished, and eager to continue these connections, while bringing new projects to life thanks to everything I learned in Abidjan.
